Assistance available

Projects assisted under the Rural Water Development Program (RWDP) include the development of water sources such as dugouts, wells, group pipelines, tank loading stations, groundwater investigation and other water related works. Technical assistance includes designs, construction supervision and other activities to identify and develop feasible solutions to water problems. financial assistance is based on project cost.

Other activities include monitoring the land under the Permanent Cover Program, assisting local delivery groups with their CMAAS projects, on-farm conservation planning, examining watershed areas affected by farming and providing advice on trees for shelterbelts and woodlots.

District description

The district includes municipal districts Bifrost (#105), Brokenhead (#110),Coldwell (#115), De Salaberry (#119), Eriksdale (#125),Franklin (#127), Gimli (#129), Hanover (#135), La Broquerie (#138), Ritchot (#165), Rockwood (#168), Rosser (#172), Ste. Anne (#175), St. Clements (#176), St. Laurent (#178), Siglunes(#185), Tache (#194),Whitemouth (#203), Woodlands (#206), LGD of Armstrong (#602),LGD of Fisher (#605), Granhamdale (#606), LGD of Piney (#610),LGD of Reynolds (#611) and LGD of Stuartburn (#612). There are seven community pastures in the district.

The district covers most of the eastern half of Manitoba from the U.S. border to the limits of agricultural activities in the north. Agricultural production includes grains and oilseeds, special crops, horticulture, hogs, cattle, dairy eggs, broilers, bison, pheasants and wild boars. The major non-agricultural activites include manufacturing, mining, forestry, fishing and tourism.
