PRINCE GEORGE – B.C. forest products and engineering expertise are providing hundreds of Indonesian families in remote villages devastated by the 2004 tsunami with their first permanent homes in two years, Forests and Range Minister Rich Coleman announced.
PORT ALBERNI – The public is advised to use extreme caution when travelling forest roads in the South Island Forest District, due to hazards created by the recent severe storms in the area. The hazards are compounded by winter driving conditions.
TRANSITION PERIOD EXTENDED FOR FOREST TENURE HOLDERS
VICTORIA – The transition period for forestry and range tenure holders to have approved plans under the Forest and Range Practices Act is being extended.
COURTENAY AERIAL SPRAY PART OF 2007 GYSPY MOTH CONTROL
VICTORIA – The Ministry of Forests and Range has applied for a pesticide use permit to aerial spray 210 hectares in Courtenay, to eradicate gypsy moths and minimize the risk they pose to the region’s trees.
CHASE – The Adams Lake Indian Band will receive $1.7 million and access to more than 273,000 cubic metres of timber through two forestry agreements reached with the Province, Forests and Range Minister Rich Coleman announced.
