Clean Air Day

June 7, 2006

The Government of Canada proclaimed Clean Air Day in 1999 to increase public awareness and action on two key environmental priorities: clean air and climate change. Part of Canadian Environment Week, Clean Air Day was created to promote and celebrate activities that nurture our environmental legacy.

Clean Air Day is a day of celebration and awareness activities across the country to invite Canadians to take action on clean air and climate change. Take part as an individual or organize an activity in your community or workplace! Celebrate an accomplishment, launch a new project in your community or organize awareness activities such as a conference, a booth or a rally. You can also make use of the Clean Air Day brochure to encourage greater participation.

Make sure to also visit the Commuter Challenge website to participate in or organize a challenge in your community or workplace to promote more sustainable modes of transportation. Join the growing number of Canadians that are coming together for the goal of cleaner air!

Environment Canada works in partnership with many organisations and community groups to deliver Clean Air Day. Partners have created their own website where you will find even more ideas and information that you can use to take action!
