Public Consultation on Water Management in Québec

On October 30, 1998, the Bureau d'audiences publiques sur l'environnement (BAPE) was directed by the Minister of the Environment, Paul Bégin, to hold a public hearing on water management in Québec.

The hearings were held in 1999 in every administrative region of Québec, and the report from the consultation was made public on May 3, 2000. According to Minister Bégin, the report provides a sound basis for a first water management policy in Québec.

It was at the Symposium on Water Management in December 1977, that Premier Lucien Bouchard laid down the principles that would guide the government in the policy preparation process.
