Who we are

Service Canada is the Government of Canada's new, easy-to-access, one-stop service delivery network that brings the range of federal services together to meet the individual needs of Canadians wherever they live. Currently, Service Canada is working closely with a number of other federal departments to integrate services. No matter what Government of Canada service citizens are looking for, their one-stop is Service Canada: at any of the 320 Service Centres across Canada, on-line at servicecanada.gc.ca or by phone at 1 800 O-Canada.

Across the country, Service Canada's more than 20,000 staff are ready: all front-line, processing and management staff have been specially trained to provide a knowledgeable first point of contact for the Government of Canada and support one-stop service delivery.

Through outreach and mobile services and working with other levels of government, Service Canada will more than double its points of service in 2006.

Who we serve

• Over 32 million Canadians in all walks of life: youth, working-age adults, seniors, Aboriginal people, persons with disabilities, new Canadians;
  
  
• Communities across the country, with a particular focus on expanding outreach into rural, remote and northern locations.
  

Each year, Service Canada

• Processes more than 5 million applications for benefits;
  
  
• Pays $65.7B in benefits to Canadians ($180 million per day);
  
  
• Makes 124 million individual payments;
  
  
• Receives 1.5 million requests for Social Insurance Numbers;
  
  
• Receives and reviews passport applications: the 35 Service Canada Centres offering these services have accepted more than 40,000 applications since April 2005;
  
  
• Posts 800,000 job ads;
  
  
• Handles more than 65 million calls to the Government of Canada;
  
  
• Provides electronic services to more than 2.5 million Canadians each week;
  
  
• Responds to more than 25,000 e-mails;
  
  
• Conducts 500,000 client interviews;
  
  
• Completes more than 250,000 direct client contacts through outreach services;
  
  
• Mails more than 20 million letters; and
  
  
• Interacts with more than 55,000 community organizations.
