Confederation Trails

The maintenance of Prince
Edward Island’s Confederation Trail network is carried out by the
Highway Maintenance Division of the Department of Transportation and
Public Works.
Components of this maintenance include:
- vegetation control
- gate maintenance
- signage and marking
- drainage systems
- bridges and causeways
- fencing
- materials
- user amenities maintenance
- all other Trail needs as required
There are approximately 366 kilometers of
developed Trail, as well as 94 kilometers of undeveloped
Trail.
Provincial Trail maintenance operations are
divided into 3 zones and managed by a Zone Supervisor in:
Georgetown, Charlottetown and Summerside. There are approximately
120 kilometers of Trail each of these zones.
The Confederation Trail Manager,
Leo
Gill, is
responsible for all maintenance operations and staff and has an
office located at the Provincial Headquarters
of the Highway Maintenance Division.
