Viewing
and printing PDF format files and documents
- Many of the documents and files contained in the Poultry Market
Web Site are in PDF format. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view
these documents and files, simply click on the PDF icon to download the free
software.
Printing
- Depending on your settings, some reports will not fit on the
page when you try to print them. The size of fonts on the screen and on the
printout are determined by the browser. It is possible to change the font
sizes. For some reports, such as the condemnation reports, set the fixed font
at 10pt and the proportionate font at 8pt. This will allow the columns to fit
on an 8½ x 11 page and the font is still large enough to read. For other
reports, such as the weekly price reports within the Poultry Market Report, it
is necessary to print using 6pt. If 6pt and 8pt are too small, then try using a
larger font and printing the reports in 11 x 8½ "landscape" orientation
instead of 8½ x 11 "portrait".

Automatic downloads
- In the Market Information Section of the Poultry Marketplace site, raw
data is made available on a weekly basis. This data is made available in
a "fixed width ASCII" format and can be downloaded to a PC and
pulled into a database to perform queries. The datafiles have a .dat extension.
It is possible to have the browser automatically save .dat files to disk
or prompt the user as to what action is desired. If you intend on saving
the .dat files, it is desireable to have your browser prompt you to save
the files rather than view them (because they are fairly large and do take
considerable time to load in the browser for viewing).
