Volunteer Fireman Registrations

I am a volunteer fire fighter, do I have to pay to get my vehicle registered?

  • Free registration is granted to volunteer fire fighters who continue to be registered as an active member of a fire department.
  • An original Identification Letter for Private Vehicle Registration (obtained from the fire department you volunteer with) must be signed by the Provincial Fire Marshal and presented before the free registeration is issued.
  • The fire fighter may obtain a free first-time registration for 6-17 months when registering a new vehicle or a free vehicle registration renewal annually.
  • The plate may be replaced free one time only within each year. The old plate must be returned.
  • The free vehicle registration is to be used on the vehicle the fire fighter operates. If no vehicle is registered to the fire fighter the free registration plate may be used by a member of the fire fighter's immediate family or the fire fighter's business provided the fire fighter operates this business.
