Reporting requirements under the new Reporting of Exported Goods Regulations

The new Reporting of Exported Goods Regulations were published in the Canada Gazette, Part II, Volume 139, Number 4 on February 23, 2005.

New implementation date - The CBSA will implement changes, as a result of the new Regulations, on May 16, 2005. Customs Notice 608 "New" Reporting of Exported Goods Regulations, was issued on February 25, 2005, announcing the implementation of the new Regulations. Customs Notice 610, Revised Implementation Date for the "New" Reporting of Exported Goods Regulations, was issued on March 15, 2005 extending the implementation date to May 16, 2005.

Under the new Regulations, exporters must submit an export declaration prior to exportation according to legislated time frames. The new legislation will permit approved carriers and customs service providers to enter into a partnership with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) whereby the participant agrees to request proof of report prior to loading, therefore ensuring that goods which have not been reported to the CBSA are not exported. (No report/No load)
