The PFRA Watersheds Major Basins product is based on the Environment Canada gauging stations. This ESRI coverage was created to replace the ws_maj12 coverage that was included in Version 2. There are currently 11 Major Basins.
Purpose:
-
To supply the thematic layer of major prairie basins of the PFRA Watershed Project for hydroligic analyses and mapping in watershed management across the Canadian prairies. This coverage was created to replace Version 2's ws_maj12 coverage. Its attribute, maj_bas, allows for proper naming of the larger watershed prairie basins.
