Rural Economic Development District description![]() North Battleford district is located in the northwest agricultural area of Saskatchewan, Canada. This is primarily parkland with the northern edge bordered by forested areas. The west boundary reaches the Alberta border and our eastern boundary follows the North Saskatchewan River to the 3rd meridian. The district is a diverse agricultural area with mixed farming predominating. Cattle, hog, and poultry operations are joined by elk, ostrich, wild boar, and buffalo. Crops grown include: fall rye, winter wheat, alfalfa, barley, oats, canola, flax and peas and other forage crops. There is also some market gardening and u-pick type of operations that include vegetables and small fruits ( e.g. saskatoons, strawberries), as well as herbs and spices. Ten PFRA Community pastures are managed within the North Battleford District: Battle River/Cut Knife, Heart's Hill, Mariposa, Meeting Lake, Montrose, Park, Paynton, Progress, Royal and Spiritwood. |
