Applying as a Skilled Worker
There are two different processes for skilled workers who want to become
permanent residents: the regular process and the simplified
application process. Beginning September 1, 2006, all applicants
must use the simplified application process unless they:
- are provincial nominees; or
- have been selected by Quebec; or
- are eligible for points for arranged employment (see Factor 5); or
- have a legal temporary resident status in Canada as workers or
students and are submitting their application at the
Canadian visa office in Buffalo; or
- have a legal status in the United States and are submitting their
application at the Canadian visa office in Buffalo.

the simplified application process.
If you do not qualify for the simplified application process, you may
follow the steps listed below.

Complete these four steps to apply for immigration as a
skilled worker:
1. Choose and read the general information
for your immigration program
2. Fill out the forms to be used by all
applicants
3. Choose the schedule for your immigration
program
4. Fill out the forms for your visa office
Include the forms for the visa office where you must apply.
