List of Commissioners

RCMP Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli offered his resignation to the Prime Minister December 6, 2006, and it has been accepted, effective December 15, 2006.

Commissioner Zaccardelli served the RCMP and Canada with pride and determination for more than 36 years. He was appointed in September 2000 as the 20th Commissioner of the RCMP.

The RCMP understands there is nothing more important than the confidence of Canadians and we deeply value that trust.  We thank Canadians for their ongoing support and commitment to the RCMP and everything it stands for as a national institution.  We know and Commissioner Zaccardelli also feels deeply that our organization is bigger than any one of us.

We are known around the world in communities large and small as an organization of excellence. This will not change.

The RCMP’s ultimate goal is to keep Canadians safe and to serve this great country with dignity, commitment and passion, coast to coast. More than 23,000 employees share in that commitment.
