Courses and RegistrationPlease contact your unit training coordinator to obtain the latest detailed CPC course schedule. Course eligibilityYou must be an employee of a Canadian or international police service, or an employee with Peace Officer status, from a Canadian Government Agency (Federal, Provincial or Municipal), to be eligible to register for a course at the Canadian Police College (CPC). In addition, many courses have specific pre-requirements. Fees differ for various types of employees. Order form (PDF 11KB) - to order a letter of attestation or a replacement course certificate. Availability of positionsEffective January 2006, positions on CPC courses are no longer explicitly allocated to Canadian police services one year in advance. CPC course positions are made available to eligible and qualified candidates whose police service/agency/government department training coordinator submits completed registration forms to the Canadian Police College, as per established process. Wait-lists for “over subscribed” courses are managed using police population and advance demand. Candidates from Canadian police servicesIf you are an employee of a recognized Canadian police service and would like to attend a CPC course, please contact your police service/agency/government department’s training officer who will process the application for you to attend. Note that the CPC does not accept requests directly from individual police officers. To register you for a course, once you have determined that you meet the Course Selection Criteria as outlined in each course description, your training officer should complete all sections of the CPC Registration form, have it authorized, and send it by Fax or E-mail - along with any required document (i.e. pre-course test results, letter of support, etc) - to the CPC Registrar. Candidates from Canadian Government Agencies (Federal, Provincial and Municipal)Although the majority of CPC students work at a Police Service, there are a few courses (i.e. TIAC, SIAC, INTSTB) that apply to people who work for Canadian Agencies and/or other government departments. Note that the CPC only accepts requests from the Agency/Government Department’s training officer - not from individual employees. If your agency has not attended a particular course in the past, please have your training officer send a written request to the attention of the CPC Registrar, in order to determine if you and your Agency or Government Department meet the selection criteria. The letter should be written on your Agency or Government Department’s official letterhead and include the following information:
A registration form and a FIS form (Govt. of Canada only) will be required. Candidates from Foreign CountriesIf you belong to a police service outside Canada and wish to register for a course at the Canadian Police College, have your police service contact the Canadian Embassy in your country or nearest to your country. Direct the request to the attention of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Liaison Officer. The Liaison Officer will forward your request via the RCMP’s International Training Branch for consideration by the Canadian Police College. If a position is available and you meet the Course Selection Criteria, your registration will be accepted. However, note that members of Canadian police services are given priority to attend CPC courses. As such, your request may need to be placed on a wait-list. If this happens, you may be offered the opportunity to replace an international student who has cancelled a position on a course, or your request may be considered for a future course date. Questions? For further information, please contact the Registrar at the CPC. |
