Teachers' Corner, Bringing the Hill to your classroom

The Teachers' Corner:

A one-stop resource that can be used by teachers, parents and anyone who is interested in facilitating student exploration of the historical and heritage aspects of the Parliament buildings and grounds.

The scavenger hunt and project-based learning activity lead students to explore, apply, create and share a renewed appreciation for Parliament Hill, a national treasure.

Learners will:

Use the Internet to explore, conduct research and collect findings. Explain the significance of historic and heritage aspects of the Parliament buildings, related symbols and grounds. Gain a knowledgeable and significant appreciation for the Parliament buildings, related symbols and grounds.

Resources are available in three grade levels, each including a teacher guide, scavenger hunt, student activity and assessment tools.

Primary levels
Students will create a Parliament Hill brochure in preparation for a cousin of the same age that is coming
to visit. Continue

Students will create a Parliament Hill brochure in preparation for a visiting exchange student. Continue
