Initiatives
To meet the challenges posed by the environment, the CPC has launched a number of strategic initiatives:
Executive Development in Policing
- Ten-month program for police senior management development
- On-line/distributed learning phases
- Three short residential sessions at CPC
CPC West
- Course offerings at a location or locations in western Canada
- Goal: increase participation on CPC courses by police officers based in the west, and international
- SPAC, MCITC, others based on demand
- Starting January 2007

Professional Development Centre for Aboriginal Policing
- Training for police who work for or serve aboriginal communities
- Focus on particular challenges, such as family violence
- Initially, modified versions of existing CPC courses, plus possibly some new courses
- Partnership of RCMP/CPC, OPP and PSEPC. Association of First Nations Chiefs of Police (AFNCP) are also involved
Internet Child Exploitation Course
- Partnership with National Child Exploitation Centre
- Hands on training at CPC Ottawa
- Supports the RCMP Youth priority
Financial Investigations Course
- New course offered for financial investigators
- Supports Canadian economic integrity priority of the RCMP
Contribution to international police training
- Increasing number of international students on CPC courses: cross-pollination, networking, revenue
- No displacement of Canadian students
Research scholarship
- CPC Police Scholarship Program
- Full-time research scholarship for Canadian police employee to conduct research on a topic
Athabasca MBA
- Masters in Business Administration with concentration in policing currently under development by Athabasca University, in partnership with the CPC.
- Available on-line in 2006
