Real property contracting opportunities are available in several areas including:

Architectural and Engineering Consultant Services

• professional and technical services planning, design, and related services during construction for buildings, marine structures, airports and highways;
• specialized services environmental services, electronic imaging, communication engineering, building automation, heritage restoration, and hydrographic surveys;
• other related consulting services.

Services Related to Real Property

• general cleaning, window washing, grounds maintenance, snow plowing;
• asbestos removal, waste disposal, signage;
• real estate appraisals
• other related real property services.

How to find bidding opportunities for real property projects

1. Advertising through GETS

Construction opportunities valued at $100,000 or more are advertised on the government electronic tendering system (GETS). Requirements valued at $84,000 or more for architectural and engineering consulting services and services related to real property are also advertised on GETS. 2. Soliciting offers from firms registered in PWGSC's SELECT system

SELECT contains lists of pre-qualified real property firms (such as architects, engineers and construction trade contractors) registered according to their expertise and the services they provide. When there is a requirement for these services, SELECT matches the specifics of the requirement with firms having the required expertise that are within a geographic range of where the work is to be done. Depending on the requirement, one firm may be given the opportunity to accept or decline the work or multiple firms may be given the opportunity to compete for the requirement.

PWGSC uses SELECT for construction opportunities below $100,000 and for architectural and engineering consulting services and services related to real property below $84,000.

To register with SELECT, firms and individuals first require a Procurement Business Number (PBN) which can be obtained by registering in the Business Access Canada Supplier Registration Information (SRI) service on the Internet.

Alternative Forms of Delivery Approaches

Alternative forms of delivery approaches (AFD) have been established to contract out the property management services in selected Crown-owned and lease-purchase buildings under the custodianship of PWGSC. Firms in the fields of architecture, engineering, construction as well as property maintenance can also access opportunities directly through AFD property management firms under contract with PWGSC for these buildings.
