Translation Bureau

The Translation Bureau is a Special Operating Agency of Public Works and Government Services Canada. The Bureau provides translation and linguistic services, interpretation services and terminology services in a full range of specialties and in over 100 different languages.

The Translation Bureau primarily serves nearly 100 federal government organizations and Canada`s Parliament. Other clients include a number of Canadian provincial, territorial and now municipal governments and organizations.

Doing Business with the Translation Bureau

Individuals and firms wanting to register with the Bureau for translation and interpretation services must meet certain criteria based on whether the service is for the official languages of Canada (English and French) or a foreign language. Contracts

The work done by translators for the Bureau's clients must meet high quality standards. Contracts are awarded largely on the basis of the quality of work. There are two types of contracts: regular contracts covering individual translation requirements and open contracts covering many translations over a given period.
