Filing a Complaint
To file a complaint about an activity
conducted by CSIS:
- Gather as much documentation and other information
as possible about the circumstances of your complaint.
- File your complaint in writing with the Director,
CSIS, at the following address:

- If you are not satisfied with the Directors
response, or if you do not receive a response within 30 days, you may
submit your complaint, as well as the Director's response, to the Security
Intelligence Review Committee (SIRC) at the following address:

You can also fax your complaint at: (613) 990-5230
- Upon receipt of your complaint, the SIRC will contact
you.
Note: Section 41 of the CSIS Act
applies to this type of complaint.
To file a complaint concerning the
denial or revocation of a security clearance necessary to obtain or keep
federal government employment or contracts:
- File the complaint with the Security
Intelligence Review Committee (SIRC) within 30 days of receiving
the notice of denial or revocation of a security clearance from the
federal department or agency where you were employed or were seeking
employment. (The Deputy Head of the federal department or agency where
you were employed or were seeking employment must advise you in writing
within 10 days of making their decision.)
Note: If you do not comply with the 30-day deadline,
you must provide the SIRC with an explanation.
- Upon receipt of your complaint, the SIRC will contact
you.
Note: Section 42 of the CSIS Act applies to
this type of complaint.
