Ongoing Projects, Preserving our heritage

Canada's Parliament Buildings are in the midst of extensive renovations that will preserve and enhance the beauty and safety of these national treasures.

This section provides visitors with detailed information on projects currently being carried out or planned for Parliament Hill.

PRESERVING A NATIONAL HISTORIC MONUMENT

The Centennial Flame is temporarily shutdown to allow significant renovations. The work involves installing a new stainless steel basin and cast bronze lights, repairing the mechanical and plumbing systems and restoring the masonry structure.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of February 2007. Once completed, Parliament Hill visitors will be able to appreciate this remarkable heritage symbol for future generations.
