Increasing Gender Inputs into Canadian International Trade Policy Positions at the WTO

(May 2005)  This report indicates that gender issues in the trade negotiation process have been minimal to date at both the WTO and within Canada’s trade policy development process. In order to assist in the development of Canada’s negotiating positions at the WTO and to promote the systematic integration of gender issues in trade policies and agreements, the author recommends a gender and trade advocacy model in the form of a joint committee with representatives from the public and private sectors, civil society and academe.
