The Institute closes its doors

In 1992, PWGSC created The Institute to offer skills, expertise and professional development to the Computer Sciences functional community within the Government of Canada. It has provided a valuable service to the IT community, but, as The Institute's services no longer correspond to the core mission of PWGSC, it will close on December 31st, 2006.

The Organizational Readiness Office (ORO) is reviewing training needs of the IM/IT Community and ways of delivering it.

Students who have not yet completed all courses towards their IT Project Management certificate at The Institute may wish to consider, in discussion with their supervisors, applying these courses to certificates offered by other educational establishments (e.g. universities). Students, who wish to complete professional certifications, may turn to private sector training organisations to pursue their goal.

As for E-learning users, their licenses will be operational until March 2007. However, no new licenses will be issued. The Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) is interested in continuing the E-learning program and will advise in due course.

PWGSC very much appreciates the excellent work and dedication provided by all employees of The Institute, thanks its clients and congratulates the 242 IT Project Management graduates of The Institute. Together you have made an invaluable contribution to the professionalism of PWGSC and the Public Service.
