Construction Canada (DCC) is a Crown corporation with a mandate
to provide services to the Department of National Defence (DND).
Since the early 1990’s, DCC has provided environmental science
and environmental engineering services to DND. Defence
Construction Canada maintains a core staff of environmental
specialists throughout Canada who are available to support the
Department of National Defence (DND) in implementing its
sustainable development strategy and other environmental
initiative throughout its operations and infrastructure
program. Increasingly, as DND is faced with more environmental
challenges, DCC’s environmental capabilities continue to expand
to meet these needs. DCC is currently looking to fill the
following position:
Reporting to
the Environmental Program Manager, the Environmental
Project Coordinator - UXO will be responsible for undertaking a
variety of UXO support tasks for DND within the National Capital
Region. You will carry out diversified assignments that will
require you to utilize your range of technical process, project
management and organizational knowledge. With technical guidance
from the Environmental Program Manager, you will provide broad-based UXO
support services including but not limited to:

Preparing
and reviewing project proposals, specifications, statements
of work, requests for consultant proposals, expressions of
interest;
-
Undertaking the responsibility of
data collection team oversite, data analysis, quality
control activities, work plan and report writing;
-
Assisting
with selecting, contracting and managing UXO consultants;
-
Assisting
with business development of UXO service line;
-
Liaising
with, and briefing DCC and DND support personnel and project
managers (client representatives) regarding project or team
requirements;
-
Providing
technical advice to the client;
-
Performing
technical assistance in contracting for UXO consultants and
other UXO initiatives;

Providing
functional guidance to DCC staff on various UXO matters;
-
Undertaking
decision making and problem solving in a variety of areas,
including project management, surveying, geology, UXO
technical issues and contract management/administration;

Overseeing UXO geophysical field
teams and projects on sites across Canada;

Performing
all other related duties as required maintaining the proper
functioning of the division.
QUALIFICATIONS

Must be
registered or eligible for registration as a Geophysicist
under one of the provincial associations.

University
degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or Geophysics is
required.

Preferably
two to three years on the job training in UXO Clearance.

Knowledge
with relevant federal and provincial regulations.

Experience
in handling multi-projects and upwards of $0.5 million.

Experience
of contracting principles and contract management
procedures.

Highly
developed communication and interpersonal skills with solid
