Taking the stairs instead of the elevator on a regular basis can bring noticeable health benefits and is a promising intervention for increasing moderate physical activity. Using the stairs instead of an elevator or escalator deals with a lifestyle choice that must be made repeatedly and on a daily basis. Stairs require little or no additional time, no additional financial cost, and are required by building code.
