Human Rights Day
Human Rights Day falls on December 10 every year, commemorating the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year's theme is Fighting Poverty: a matter of obligation, not charity. Louise Arbour, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, has characterized poverty as “the gravest human rights challenge in the world.” In recognition of this, the Equity Studies Department and Human Rights Office have developed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Day Curriculum Resource. This package has been provided to all schools to help TDSB students become engaged global citizens. More>>
