What is new/changed?
Commissioner's Directive 570, entitled "Security Equipment".
Why was the policy changed?
The new CD 570 replaces CD 671, SOP 670 and chapters 6.1 and 6.2 of the Security Manual, Part I, eliminating redundancies which had previously existed.
The content remains largely unchanged, however there were some technical amendments which ensure the policy is current.
What is the purpose of the policy change?
The practices and procedures described in the new CD 570 have been well established within CSC for many years, although some aspects had not been previously documented in policy.
How was it developed?
The policy was revised by the Correctional Operations and Programs Sector following consultation with Regional Administrators of Security, local Security Maintenance Officers, the Corporate Services Sector and the Policy Division, at National Headquarters.
