POLICY BULLETINWhat is new/changed? Commissioner's Directive 001, entitled "Mission of the Correctional Service of Canada", has been expanded to reflect CSC's Ethics Strategy. Why was the policy changed? To incorporate the public service values as part of the overall Core Values of the CSC. CSC is committed to reaffirming the importance of values and integrating them into our everyday actions. Consistent with the federal government's modern comptrollership initiative, the Executive Committee (EXCOM) approved an Ethics Strategy for CSC. This CD has been revised as a result. Elements of the Ethics Strategy include:
Accountability? Every person working for CSC is responsible for making appropriate decisions based on the values contained in this directive. Who will be affected by the policy? All members of CSC. Expected cost? No cost. Other impacts? Awareness and training on values and ethics will be incorporated in CSC's induction and professional development and training.
