POLICY BULLETIN

PDFpdf

Policy number and title:

Commissioner's Directive 285 - CSC Standardized Selection Process

What is new/changed?

CD 282 on "The CSC Correctional Career Management Program" has been deleted. A new CD, CD 285 entitled "CSC Standardized Selection Process" has been approved.

Why was the policy created?

CD 285 responds to the need for a departmental approach to staffing identified generic positions while respecting the staffing values and management principles.

The SSP focuses on staffing and can be applied to any position. It is based on a systematic approach of determining departmental qualification standards for identified positions and measuring the competency level of employees against these standards in a fair, equitable and transparent manner.

How was it developed?

The CD was developed by the Human Resource Management Sector in consultation with EXCOM members and regional managers.

The bargaining agents representing employees in positions previously targeted in CD 282 were provided with a copy of the draft policy.

Accountabilities?

The roles and responsibilities of EXCOM, NHQ functional heads, Regional Deputy Commissioners, sector heads, Assistant Commissioner of Human Resource Management, managers, supervisors and employees are outlined in the new CD.

Who will be affected by the policy?

Managers responsible for staffing generic positions and staff applying for these positions will be affected.

Expected cost?

None.
