What is new/changed?

Guidelines 563-1 - CSC Badges

Why was the policy changed?

In recognition of our partnership with other elements of the criminal justice system, these new guidelines have been introduced to establish the requirements and procedures for the creation, issuance, storage and use of a uniquely-numbered badge and corresponding ID card for specific, authorized individuals of the Service.

What is the purpose of the change?

To ensure that CSC employees who are authorized to have a CSC badge use it in a consistent manner that reflects positively on themselves and on the Service since the deportment of these individuals will reflect the professionalism of the Service and its effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate.

How was it developed?

The guidelines were developed by the policy owner in consultation with the Regional Administrators, Security; Staff Relations at NHQ; Correctional Operations and Programs; Legal Services, and the Policy, Planning and Coordination Sectors at NHQ; and with representatives of UCCO.

Accountability?

Specific accountabilities are clearly reflected within the guidelines.

Who will be affected by the policy?

CSC staff who are authorized to have a badge by the Commissioner or the Senior Deputy Commissioner. The initial "authorized individuals" will be employees at the CX 1, 2, 3 or 4 level.

Expected cost?

None.

Other impacts?

None.
