FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE EXPERIENCE THE EVOLUTION OF CORRECTIONS IN CANADAOTTAWA, June 14, 2005 – The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is launching today a new Web site dedicated to the history of corrections in Canada. Corrections in Canada: An Interactive Timeline showcases an important part of Canadian history. The Web site traces the evolution of corrections and provides Canadians with a broad overview of the evolution of rehabilitation, the progression of parole and other historic facts about how changing times have influenced this part of the Canadian justice system. "Corrections in Canada: An Interactive Timeline will contribute to a better understanding of the historical roots of corrections in Canada and of our Mission to enhance public safety", said Lucie McClung, Commissioner of Corrections. The Web site provides a dynamic, easy-to-navigate historical overview of Canada's corrections system and describes the development of the last 170 years of corrections.
