Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (ICRH)

ICRH Workshops and Special Projects Support (iWASPS)

The CIHR Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (ICHR) mandate is to support research into the causes, mechanisms, prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, support systems, and palliation for a wide range of conditions associated with the heart, lung, brain (stroke), blood vessels, blood, critical and intensive care, and sleep.

Program

ICRH will provide support or partial support up to $10,000 towards workshops, symposia, conferences, guideline development, forums and special projects which have direct relevance to the Institute's mandate and research and/or knowledge translation priorities.

The following meeting definitions are provided for the purpose of providing support toward a variety of research and knowledge translation activities:

A workshop is defined as a consultative meeting of individually invited persons (usually less than 30 people) to address specific questions or problems relevant to the ICRH mandate, with the purpose of reaching a consensus on recommendations or conclusions leading to an improved focus on research and/or knowledge transfer issues. In most circumstances, the majority of participants should hold appointments in Canada.

A scientific symposium is open to all interested Canadian investigators and is not restricted to participants from a particular geographic region or professional society. The subject matter should be important to a significant number of Canadian investigators and other stakeholders and have clear relevance to health research.

Conferences (including consensus conferences, forums and guideline development) are an arranged assembly of researchers brought together with a common purpose of addressing areas of scientific value and/or knowledge translation.

Special Projects - ICRH will consider funding special projects that don't fit into the above categories and that are directly related to the mandate and priorities of the Institute.
