Call for Papers on Sport, Recreation, and Physical Activity: Intersections with Aboriginal Health

Pimatisiwin: A Journal of Aboriginal and Indigenous Community Health is planning a special issue on Sport, Recreation, and Physical Activity:  Intersections with Aboriginal Health.  As major funding agencies allocate research dollars to investigations intended to reduce physical inactivity and associated lifestyle diseases in Aboriginal populations (e.g., Type 2 Diabetes), it is particularly timely and important to conduct research into initiatives that deal with - or have dealt with - these issues and objectives.  This edition of Pimatisiwin seeks contributions that use socio-cultural and/or historical lenses to examine the impact that sport, recreation, and physical activity can have on Aboriginal people's health (as broadly defined).  Submissions that investigate traditional physical activities and take an innovative approach to investigating the aforementioned issues are especially welcome.  Deadlines for submissions is January 31, 2007.  Please refer to submission guidelines.
