PRINCIPLES OF GOVERNMENT
LEADERSHIP
WITH RESPECT TO THE
CANADIAN FRANCOPHONIE
Croyant fermement que les francophones et les Acadiens et Acadiennes doivent pouvoir vivre et s'épanouir individuellement et collectivement en français partout au Canada, les membres provinciaux et territoriaux de la Conférence ministérielle sur les affaires francophones reconnaissent :

 Firmly believing that Francophones and Acadians should individually and collectively be able to live and develop in French throughout Canada, the provincial and territorial members of the Ministerial Conference on Francophone Affairs hereby acknowledge:
  • L'importance de l'engagement et du leadership gouvernemental dans le domaine des affaires francophones;
  • The importance of government commitment and leadership in the sphere of francophone affairs;
  • L'importance de promouvoir un plus grand usage et une plus grande visibilité de la langue française partout au Canada;
  • The importance of promoting greater use and visibility of the French language throughout Canada;
  • La valeur de la contribution de la francophonie au tissu social canadien;
  • The value of the French-speaking communities' contribution to the social fabric of Canada;
  • Le caractère essentiel du dialogue et de la collaboration entre chaque gouvernement et sa communauté francophone ou acadienne pour l'épanouissement de celle-ci;
  • The essential role played by dialogue and cooperation between each government and its francophone or Acadian community in the development of that community;
  • Le besoin de flexibilité et d'options pratiques dans la planification et la prestation de services en français, compte tenu des différentes réalités de leurs provinces et territoires;
  • The need for flexibility and practical alternatives in the planning and delivery of French-language services, given the different realities of their provinces and territories;
  • La nécessité de favoriser la coopération intergouvernementale pour faciliter l'avancement des dossiers des affaires francophones;
  • The necessity of encouraging intergovernmental cooperation in order to facilitate progress in francophone affairs;
  • L'importance d'assumer un rôle individuel et collectif de catalyseur par rapport à l'évolution des affaires francophones;
  • The importance of assuming an individual and collective catalyzing role with respect to the evolution of francophone affairs;
  • L'importance de leurs efforts continus pour assurer l'offre active de services de qualité en français et l'essor des communautés francophones et acadienne du Canada.
  • The importance of their efforts and support for ensuring the active offer of quality services in French and the development of Canada's francophone and Acadian communities.

Le Québec déclare qu'il continuera à appuyer, de concert avec les gouvernements des provinces et territoires, le développement et l'épanouissement des communautés francophones et acadienne. Ainsi, il s'associe à cette déclaration de principes. Québec declares that it will continue to support, together with the provincial and territorial governments of Canada, the development and enhancement of Canada's francophone and Acadian communities. It therefore joins in this declaration of principles.
