CIHR Publications Information

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) publishes a wide variety of information publications designed to educate all Canadians about the status of the agency's substantive progress.

The electronic versions of these publications are available here, and are divided into a variety of different areas of interest on the left navigation bar.

Health Research Results and Related Reports offers CIHR's most requested publications of note, including information brochures relating to CIHR's origins, accomplishments and goals; books and stories related to CIHR-funded scientific achievements; and commercialization objectives. Other categories contain documents related to the evaluation and analysis of CIHR's progress; previously submitted CIHR annual reports; development in CIHR-related strategic initiatives; and partnerships that exist with external clients and CIHR friends.

The Strategic Plan is a direct link to CIHR's Blueprint - a document that articulates CIHR's long-term strategy as the Government of Canada's agency for health research.

Funding Related Documents supply tips for health researchers who wish to submit an application for CIHR-research funding grant or award; outline CIHR's funding policy through the grants and awards guide; and provide a listing of funding-related decisions since CIHR's inception in 2000.

Ethics offers a connection to a variety of CIHR Ethics Office-related documents in the respective fields of research involving Aboriginal Peoples; institutional conflicts of interest; the national placebo initiative; privacy and confidentiality; research involving the use of animals; and stem cell research.

Reports to Parliament include documents related to CIHR's plans and priorities; departmental performance reports; submissions to the Government of Canada; and archived reports from CIHR predecessor, the Medical Research Council of Canada (MRC).

Reference Documents are useful for people seeking CIHR's guidelines regarding the media; its own lexicon; its public communications; and also supplies other useful links for related research purposes.

Institute Publications provides direct links to popular publications released by CIHR's 13 Institutes; including annual reports, brochures, strategic plans, fact sheets and other related materials.
