Clinical Research Initiative (CRI)
Current and Future Activities
In the last 2 years, CRI has lead extensive consultations with the clinical research community. Through national
workshops, which brought together stakeholders from various spheres of clinical research, the CRI received numerous inputs on how best to address the needs and opportunities of the current and future clinical research environment, culminating in the development of a plan for funding clinical research infrastructure. In 2006, the CRI has initiated a clinical research coalition. This partnership for clinical research will provide CRI leverage in developing further partnerships. These partnerships will create the capacity to implement further recommendations arising from these consultations. A suite of
CIHR grants and awards has already been launched, with more to come as the Clinical Research Initiative unfolds.
