Canadian Transportation Agency to Hear Final Oral Arguments Regarding a Complaint Filed Against VIA Rail

OTTAWA - April 5, 2002 - The Canadian Transportation Agency will be hearing final oral arguments in Toronto on April 8, 2002, regarding a complaint filed by the Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD) alleging that the new VIA Rail Renaissance passenger cars are not accessible for travellers with disabilities.

The purpose of hearing final oral arguments is to give the parties in this case an opportunity to summarize information filed over the course of the proceedings in this file. Parties will have 1.5 hours each to present their final arguments and CCD counsel will have 45 minutes to reply. New evidence, issues or new legal arguments will not be raised at the hearing.
