On an international level, Canada's allies recognize the Canadian and
International Industrial Security Directorate (CIISD) as the Designated
Security Authority (DSA) for industrial security for Canada.
When a foreign nation is considering a Canadian private sector organization
for participation in a Classified contract/program/project, the Security
Officials of that nation will contact CIISD to determine whether the
organization has the necessary security clearances to participate in
the program/contract. In the case of the United States, they may also
require that the organization be certified in the U.S./Canada Joint
Certification Program.
