Proposed amendments:

  • Health Canada has completed the scientific review of four proposed new uses of the food irradiation. Related proposed amendments to the Food and Drug Regulations have been published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on Saturday, November 23, 2002. The public and all stakeholders are invited to provide comments on these proposed amendements.

Code of practice:

  • Health Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, has developed a draft Recommended Canadian Code of Practice for Food Irradiation.
    This Code is also the subject of a consultation. All interested parties are invited to provide comments on this Code by writting to: Bureau of Food Regulatory, International and Interagency Affairs, Building No. 7 (0702C1), Tunney's Pasture, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0L2 or by fax at 613-941-3537 or by e-mail at irradiation@hc-sc.gc.ca
