PURPOSE

1.1
|
The purpose of this directive is to provide you with information on the
above-noted SSC initiative.
|

|
BACKGROUND
|
2.1
|
The salary Service Project was initiated in April 1990 to investigate and
resolve Pay and Contributor System salary data integrity problems. SSC modified
the existing Pay Contribution Systems salary process to significantly reduce
the number of rejects. We also developed two new Contributor System on-line
applications, On-line Salary Correction and Entry and on-line Salary
Verification. These new applications will give Supply and Services on-line Pay
and Pension Application clients the ability to correct and verify current and
historical salary information on the contributor Data Base. The new
applications are intended to provide the tools necessary to support the ongoing
business of Pension Quotations, Estimates of Cost, Management Employee Benefit
Statements and inquiries with accurate source data. The new applications will
be pilot tested in two Departments from September 7, 1992 to November 16, 1992.
Should the pilot result be that the applications meet expectations, we expect
client implementation to take place on November 16, 1992. (This implementation
date replaces any previously announced date).
The Compensation Directorate is also continuing to investigate
alternative strategies for a clean up of compensation data in preparation for
PSCS. Further communications related to the data clean up initiative will be
forthcoming in the next few months.

POLICY
|
3.1
|
The departments will now be responsible for the correction of the on-going and
quarterly Contributor Salary rejects. In this regard, the unprocessed
Transaction Report listing will be distributed to departments by the SSC
Regional Offices currently serving them.
|
3.2
|
The SSC Regional Offices will be responsible for the correction of the on-going
and quarterly Contributor Salary rejects for clients not using
on-line.
|
3.3
|
The new On-line Correction/entry and Verification Applications will be assigned
to all departmental users who currently have a valid On-line Pay User ID and
password based on the existing Regional Paylist security control and function
structure. Departmental users who cannot be assigned by this process should
apply for the appropriate User ID through their security
Officer.

instruction pertaining to the use of the application in HELP TEXT which has
been developed to replace any need for written procedures.
