COMPENSATION DIRECTIVE : 1996-019

April 12, 1996

Ottawa, Ontario
K1A 0S5

SUBJECT: Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec

1

PURPOSE

1.1 The purpose of this directive is to inform you of a procedural change in the reporting of the reference number as it applies to the Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec.

1.2 For additional details regarding the Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec, please refer to Compensation Directive 1993-017 dated November 16, 1993 entitled "New Deduction Code and Taxability Related to the "Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec".

2

BACKGROUND

2.1 Further to the implementation of Individual Agency Number (IAN), the Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec has requested that the contract/reference number field (Field 71-manual input) become a mandatory field. This is effective immediately and will assist the Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec in establishing the proper link for deposit purposes.

3

PROCEDURES/INSTRUCTIONS

3.1 Departments are instructed to complete the contract/reference field with a 9 digit number when reporting all deductions for the Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec which are identified as codes 797 and 889. Please note that the contract/reference is now mandatory and will be supplied by the Fonds (see attached documents).

3.2 A letter and a listing from the Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec will be forwarded shortly to all Departments concerned informing them of the new 9 digit reference number which has been allocated to all present subscribers. Departments should process these amendments immediately.

3.3 Until these changes can be amended in the Personnel -Pay Input Manual, (Section 9-5-4, volume III, pages 24 and 27), you may wish to note these changes in order to ensure that the transaction is completed properly and accurately.

4

INQUIRIES

4.1 Any request for information regarding the foregoing should be addressed to your PWGSC Client Service Centre as per Compensation Directive 1994-039 dated October 6, 1994.
