SUBJECT: Isolated Post Allowances

PURPOSE

1.1 The purpose of this directive is to advise you of rate changes to two of the components paid under the Isolated Posts Directive contained in the Treasury Board Manual.

POLICY

2.1 Treasury Board has approved a rate increase, retroactive to August 1, 1998, for the Environment Allowance (entitlement code 297) and the Living Cost Differential (entitlement code 101). The rates for the Fuel and Utilities Differential (entitlement code 102) will remain the same.

PROCEDURES

3.1 Client departments are required to submit a PAC 18A (batch) or ENA (on-line) to amend the on-going rate and adjust the retroactivity for these entitlements. See PPIM 4-4-18-5 or 14-6-2 for instruction and appendix B and C (attached) for new rates.

3.2 The updated version # 357 of the Deduction/Entitlement Control file, in production on 19 October, 1998, contains the revised hourly and annual rate maximums for the above-noted allowances.
