SPECIAL BULLETIN: 2005-003

Information Notice to Employees

March 2, 2005

SUBJECT: Termination of the Pension Transfer Agreement (PTA) between the Government of Canada and Queen's University

  1 PURPOSE
  1.1 The purpose of this bulletin is to advise all clients that the existing PTA with the Queen's University will terminate on May 15, 2005.
  1.2 A notice of information to employees concerning the above has been included with this SAM Special Bulletin and will also be posted in the "Who are you? - Public Service Employee" page of the Compensation Sector Web site.
  1.3 In this text, use of the masculine is generic and applies to both men and women.


  2 PROCEDURES/INSTRUCTIONS
  2.1 It is important that plan members be informed as soon as possible that if they wish to take advantage of the PTA to transfer their pensionable service, they must do so prior to May 15, 2005.
  2.2 For those plan members who wish to transfer their pensionable service from the Queen's University to the federal Public Service under the terms of the existing PTA, they must sign and submit the "APPENDIX A1 - REQUEST for TRANSFER ESTIMATE" form prior to May 15, 2005.
  2.3 For those plan members who wish to transfer their pensionable service from the federal Public Service to the Queen's University under the terms of the existing PTA, they must sign and submit the "APPENDIX A2 - REQUEST for TRANSFER ESTIMATE" form prior to May 15, 2005. Plan members can obtain a copy of the Appendix A2 by contacting the Department of Pensions and Insurance of the Queen's University.
