Chronicle1999In October 1999, the Government On-Line initiative is launched as it is announced in the Speech from the Throne. The initiative concludes on an optimistic note as a multi-channel service transformation agenda is being developed. This agenda builds on the achievements of Government On-Line. In November, one month after the Speech from the Throne, the main areas for Government On-Line are identified: governance, strategy, privacy, security, communications, clients' needs and access, service standards, branding, business processes, information management, procurement, and information management and information technology infrastructure. A draft framework for the initiative is produced and a three tiered approach is proposed. The first tier aims at putting information on-line by the end of 2000; the second tier, at delivering federal services electronically by 2004; and the third tier, at bringing to fruition seamless electronic service delivery across channels and jurisdictions after 2004. This framework will be refined over a period of months. |
