Compensation Directives in Electronic Format

COMPENSATION COMMUNIQUÉ

October 30, 1998

SUBJECT: Compensation Directives in Electronic Format

The purpose of this communiqué is to advise you of the first release on the Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) Compensation Publications site. The implementation of this project aims to enable PWGSC to improve the service given to clients by maintaining the quality of the publications delivered, increasing the timeliness within which documentation will be received and facilitating the ease of use of the publications by installing electronic links and search capabilities.

Valid Compensation Directives, including Services Pay Directives, will be posted on the Government Enterprise Network (GENet) as of October 30, 1998, and will be accessible at the following Uniform Resource Locator (URL) address:

As compensation publications are posted on-line, the official source for these publications will shift from the hard-copy to the electronic version.

Between December 1998 and March 2000, we will be phasing in the on-line availability of other compensation documents such as the: Personnel-Pay Input Manual (PPIM), Superannuation Administration Manual (SAM) and SAM Special Bulletins, Insurance Administration Manual (IAM), Entitlement System-DSS 2000 Manual for Personnel and Pay (ENT), Superannuation Procedures Manual for Personnel Offices Serviced by the Regional Pay System (PER) and Superannuation Procedures Manual for Public Service Corporations (PSC).

I would like to remind you that, in accordance with our release strategy, we will completely cease paper distribution of compensation publications available on-line in September 2000, that is, 6 months after the last planned release. In the meantime, we strongly encourage you to ensure that you have on-line access to our publications and to advise us to discontinue sending you the paper version as soon as you can access the site.

Should you require additional information, do not hesitate to communicate with your Regional PWGSC Compensation Services Office.
