Personnel-Pay Input Manual
COMPENSATION COMMUNIQUÉ
April 30, 1999
SUBJECT: Personnel-Pay Input Manual
In response to the client community and in consultation with the Association
of Compensation Managers, a Compensation Sector Web site was established in the
fall of 1998. This site will ultimately contain the most widely-used
compensation publications. Its implementation will improve the service given to
clients. The quality of the materials delivered will be maintained, the
timeliness within which documentation is received will be improved and the ease
of use of the publications, through the installation of electronic links and
search capabilities, will be facilitated. Our site is currently being
redesigned as part of a departmental standardization exercise. The intent is to
provide the same content but to change the appearance to be consistent with
other sites within Government Operational Service Branch.
The Personnel-Pay Input Manual has been available
electronically since January 28, 1999 and in order to reduce operating costs, a
decision has been made to no longer accept any new requests for paper versions
of this manual. We will also discontinue the printing of all future amendments
as of June 1, 1999.
An exception will be
made for those who cannot currently access our site:
http://www.pwgsc.gc.ca/compensation
If this applies to you, please inform us no later than May 14th so
that your name is not removed from our distribution list. This notification can
be sent by facsimile (819) 956-6484 or in writing to:
Chief, Manuals and Publications Compensation Training and Communications Division Regional
Services Directorate Public Works and Government Services
Canada 10A1, Phase III Place du
Portage Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0S5
and must include the following in order to be processed:
Name of publication Department Complete address Contact's name and telephone
number Your address label number
We would ask that you indicate when you expect to have access to the
Compensation Sector site so that we can set a review date.
In addition to the above, we wish to inform you that in future
we will discontinue issuance of paper versions three months following the date
of automation of each compensation manual. At that time, a request similar to
this one will be sent to all individuals receiving the manual in
question.
As a result of the discontinuance of
paper copies of manuals, we would like to alert you to the fact that Public
Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) regional pay offices training
delivery will also be impacted. Classroom training will be delivered using the
only valid version of the manuals, which is the electronic version. It is
imperative that, as manuals are Web enabled, participants registering for PWGSC
pay, pension and insurance courses be familiar with the Internet related
technology, e.g. site navigation using a browser.
