Access to Compensation Sector Publications via
the Internet
COMPENSATION COMMUNIQUÉ
December 20, 1999
SUBJECT: Access to Compensation Sector Publications via the Internet
In response to the client community and in consultation with the Association of Compensation Managers, a Publiservice Compensation Sector Web site was established in the fall of 1998. We are pleased to inform you that as of December 1999, the Sector web presence has been expanded to the Internet to provide access to a broader range of clients. The quality of the materials delivered will be maintained, the timeliness within which documentation is received will be improved and the ease of use of the publications, through the installation of electronic links and search capabilities, will be facilitated.
The following documents are currently available on the Publiservice and Internet sites:
Annual Report Forms/Info Kits Pay Equity Pension Reform Publications (Directives, Bulletins, Forms Advices, etc.) Software Year 2000
We invite you to visit the site to which you have access and to familiarize yourself with it.
As a cost reduction measure, as of the date of issuance of this communiqué, we will no longer accept any new requests for paper copies of the publications available on the Compensation Sector Web sites. As of April 1, 2000 the Sector will implement its total discontinuance of paper copies for documents available on these sites. Prior to April 1, 2000, amendments of manuals for which paper copies are still distributed, will continue to be distributed in paper mode as well as electronically via the Web.
As a result of the discontinuance of paper copies of manuals, we would like to alert you to the fact that Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) regional pay offices training delivery will also be impacted. Classroom training will be delivered using the only valid version of the manuals, which is the electronic version. It is imperative that, as manuals are Web enabled, participants registering for PWGSC pay, pension and insurance courses be familiar with the Internet related technology, e.g. site navigation using a browser.
