About Us

The Government Electronic Delivery Infrastructure Service (GEDIS) is an electronic commerce technical infrastructure and support organization. The Informatics Technology Services Branch (ITSB) of Public Works Government Services Canada offers the service.

The service provides a range of electronic data exchange services including full XML and EDI support. The GEDIS provides the functionality for data to be gathered from both public and private organizations. The data can then be filtered directly into one central government mailbox for processing and re-direction. Once the data is received, it can be sent to client applications directly, or the data can be transformed into an application specific format before it is sent.

The GEDIS is available to all government departments and agencies as a service that enables individual applications to receive various types of data from one central point in a common language and standard. This service is especially useful and effective to those government departments and agencies that do business with private sector companies and organizations.

The GEDIS has a proven track record with over 10 years of experience with e-commerce initiatives and applications providing three different levels of service to its clients.
