It will outline the Public Service Superannuation Act (PSSA); describe the key players and introduce the references to be used by compensation advisors, i.e. the Superannuation Administration Manual (SAM), the Superannuation Procedures Manual for Personnel Offices Services by the Regional Pay System (PER), the Superannuation Procedures Manual for Public Service Crown Corporations (PSC) and the superannuation booklet. DESCRIPTION--OBJECTIVE: This module deals with the requirements for being eligible to contribute to the Superannuation Plan. In this module the participant will begin to actually use the Superannuation Administration Manual (SAM) to determine an employee's eligibility to contribute to superannuation; and will have the opportunity to use the Superannuation Procedures Manual for Personnel Offices Serviced by Regional Pay System (PER) to follow the procedures to administer the PWGSC-TPSGC 2018, Notification of Contributory Status and the PWGSC-TPSGC 2241, Superannuation Documentation Transmittal Slip.

OBJECTIVE: After the completion of the on-line module 2a and the classroom module 2b, the compensation advisor will be able to determine the rules that apply: to establish eligibility, the effective dates of coverage and deductions; to maintain coverage; when an employee is claiming DI benefits and when coverage ceases. The compensation advisor will also be able to determinethe relevant information that must be provided to the employees in each situation andperform the required procedures.

On-line module 2a
The on-line module 2a describes the roles and responsibilities of all players involved in the administration of the DI Plan and its purpose. The module contains the necessary information to determine the eligibility, the effective date of coverage and deductions, the amount of coverage and premiums. It also explains how to maintain coverage while on leave without pay (LWOP), the claims process and what ceasing to be eligible entails. The module states what information the compensation advisor must provide to the employees.
This on-line module requires the compensation advisor to read information on DI. While completing the on-line module, he will access the main reference tool, the Insurance Administration Manual (IAM), and other related reference tools. He will also follow a case situation and apply the rules with on-line exercises. At the end of the on-line module, he will be required to complete the Evaluation of Learning and then answer questions on the two scenarios of the Application of Learning.

Classroom module 2b
The classroom module 2b is not intended to teach the subject matter on DI, as the subject matter is covered in the on-line module. During the classroom session, the answers to the two scenarios of the Application of Learning are reviewed concentrating on the weaknesses of the participants. For each process (Eligibility, Joining, Maintaining, Claiming and Ceasing), the points for which the participants ask for clarification are reviewed. The participants complete individually the Evaluation of Learning at the end of the classroom.
During the classroom session, the compensation advisors share information, participate to group discussions and identify the points where they need clarification.
The compensation advisor must register to the classroom session at least six weeks before the classroom session.

Classroom Module 2b
The compensation advisor must have completed the on-line module 2a. The "Certificate of Achievement" and answers to the "Application of Learning" must be sent to the PWGSC training officer prior to the classroom session.

OBJECTIVE: After the completion of the on-line module 3a and the classroom module 3b, the compensation advisor will be able to determine the rules that apply to establish eligibility to PSMIP (life insurances and LTD), the effective dates of coverage and deductions for the life insurances and LTD, to amend the life insurances and maintain coverage under the life insurances and LTD when an employee is claiming LTD or life insurances benefits and when coverage under PSMIP (life insurances and LTD) ceases. The compensation advisor will also be able to determine the relevant information that must be provided to the employees in each situation and perform the required procedures.
DESCRIPTION:
On-line module 3a
The on-line module 3a describes the roles and responsibilities of all players involved in the administration of the PSMIP and its purpose. The module contains the necessary information
to determine the eligibility, the effective date of coverage and deductions, the amount of coverage and premiums. It also explains how to maintain coverage while on leave without pay (LWOP), the claims process and what ceasing to be eligible entails. The module states what information the compensation advisor must provide to the employees.
This on-line module requires the compensation advisor to read information on PSMIP. While completing the on-line module, he will access the main reference tool, the Insurance Administration Manual (IAM), and other related reference tools. He will also follow a case situation and apply the rules with on-line exercises. At the end of the on-line module, he will be required to complete the Evaluation of Learning and then answer questions on the scenario of the Application of Learning.

Classroom module 3b
The classroom module 3b is not intended to teach the subject matter on PSMIP, as the subject matter is covered in the on-line module. During the classroom session, the answers to the scenario of the Application of Learning is reviewed concentrating on the weaknesses of the participants. For each process (Eligibility, Joining, Amending, Maintaining, Claiming and Ceasing), the points for which the participants ask for clarification are reviewed. The participants complete individually the Evaluation of Learning at the end of the classroom.
During the classroom session, the compensation advisors share information, participate to group discussions and identify the points where they need clarification.
The compensation advisor must register to the classroom session at least six weeks before the classroom session.
