Canadian Integrated Program for Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance (CIPARS)

... working towards the preservation of effective antimicrobials for humans and animals ...

CIPARS

About CIPARS:

The Canadian Integrated Program for Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance (CIPARS) has been under development for several years beginning with the launch of program components in both the human and agri-food sectors. Information is being collected on antimicrobial resistance in enteric pathogens and commensal organisms from the agri-food sector (farm level, abattoir level and retail level), on antimicrobial resistance in enteric pathogens isolated from humans, and on antimicrobial use in humans and animals. The components are part of a representative, methodologically unified approach, modeled after international initiatives such as the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (NARMS-USA) and the Danish Integrated Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring and Research Programme (DANMAP-Denmark).
