Nosocomial and Occupational Infections Section Mandate

The Mandate of the Section is to enhance infection prevention and control programs in health care facilities and other community settings by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating epidemiological information on nosocomial and occupational infections in the Canadian population.


 Objectives
  • Conduct surveillance of nosocomial and occupational infection of national interest.
  • Provides leadership in the management of nosocomial infection issues of national interest.
  • Set national standards for the prevention of nosocomial and occupational infections by developing, expanding, publishing, and updating the national Infection Control Guideline series.
  • Identify and evaluate occupational infection issues related to blood-borne pathogens.
